The Division is one of the service providers of the Institute. The division has four main units including Plantation "A and B", Health, Station Management and Fermentary. The plantation Unit develops new experimental plots for Research Divisions and the maintenance of some experimental and all non-experimental plots of cocoa, coffee, coconut, kola, oil palm and citrus. The health unit is responsible for high standard of environmental sanitation to promote good health and a conducive atmosphere for research. The maintenance unit establishes and maintains the lawns, ornamentals and the hedges at office and the residential areas. The fermentary unit collects and processes all harvested cocoa pods from various divisional plots.
Afosu Sub - Station
The Afosu sub - station is located in the Birim North of the Eastern Region of Ghana. It was established in 1972 but research activities started in 1975. Afosu is considered as marginal area for cocoa production due to its mean rainfall and prolonged dry spells but suitable for replication of experiments under climatic and edaphic conditions different from that of Tafo. The station provides extension services supply hybrid seedlings to farmers who call to seek advice on cocoa, kola and coffee cultivation. A senior research scientist heads the station.
Bole Sub - Station
The sub - station which is situated in Bole in the Northern Region of Ghana was established in 1975 to originally focus on sheanut development but over the years, its mandate has been widened to include research on cashew. The vision of the station is to develop appropriate technologies that offer solutions farmers' problems in sheanut and cashew cultivation, to supply clonal planting materials and to offer technical advices to farmers to increase production. The station is managed by a research scientist.
Bunso Sub - Station
The CRIG sub - station at Bunso has a mandate to develop appropriate technologies that provide solutions to enhance cultivation of cocoa, coffee and kola. It also supplies clonal planting materials to coffee farmers and cocoa seedlings to cocoa farmers. The station is headed by a Principal Research Scientist.
